Traditional Cuisine
Barbadian food contains elements from across the globe such as England, Portugal, Spain and West Africa. The dishes contain ingerdients which can be found on the island of Barbados such as fish, rice, guava molasses, corn, potatoes and sugar. In 1600's the British grew a sugar cane plantation in Barbados and it is now the most common food on the island. Many dishes contain spices and herbs like garlic, parsely, basil, paprika and clove. Due to a plentiful supply of sugar Barbados has several sweet dishes such as chocolate fudge, peanut brittle, lemon meringue pie and coconut bread.

-Pudding N' Souse- Pig intestines with a sweet potato filling.
-Conkies- Coconut, pumpkiin, corn flourand sweet potatoes wrapped in a banana leaf.
-Bajan Black Eye Peas and Rice- Kidney beans and parsley on top of rice.
-Bajan Candied Sweet Potatoes- Mashed sweet potatoes caramalized in brown sugar topped with cherries and pineapples.
